Our Twelve Day Christmas Journey: Day Ten

On our tenth day of Christmas, our journey takes us back on the road to our final destination. christmas-2014-342Hopefully, Kip won’t announce that the mobile crate is dragging as we pull from the drive. On this trip we have 80 additional passengers; fresh blue point oysters

We are going international; on our way to Lake Huron.  It is a relatively short drive; two and a half hours door to door.

As we cross the border there is still no snow in sight.  We begin to resign ourselves to the fact that there will be no x-country skiing during this year’s journey…

It is late in the afternoon as we arrive into the village.  The sun begins to show its brilliance through the winter clouds.  As we pull into our drive I run to the bluff; to the left is what I see.christmas-2014-346christmas-2014-363

Ten minutes later I see this

As we unpack the mobile crate and become organized in our new setting, the earth once again finds its peace.christmas-2014-369

Some time later, as I stare at the dance in the fireplace, I begin to settle into a mindful state. I love when my person feels her moment.  When she embraces who she is.  When she is one with her Ghost in Me.

It is Sunday.  We find ourselves at Cantrick H.Q. putting a number of year-end matters in order to be able to continue our international journey tomorrow.
The evening brings a celebration of “Our” Merry Little Christmas.christmas-2014-1421 Santa has once again found me. For thirty-six years no matter where our travels take us we commit an evening to just us.  Our traditions take over.  christmas-2014-324After opening a few gifts, dinner ensues. I, the pyromaniac can never find enough candles. This year oysters/crab/artichokes and a special bottle find their way to our table. We talk gratitude.  We talk the year’s successes and we talk
of its losses.  We talk about our new year ahead.

As I shut down the lights at the evening’s end, I walk past our satirical self-portrait above the fireplace.???????????????????????????????                                                                     I can only giggle.

Our Twelve Day Christmas Journey: Day Eight

On our eighth day of Christmas we climb back into the mobile crate and  continue on our  twelve day journey. Thank goodness the crate is no longer dragging.christmas-day-1-0201   We continue to seek snow and Santa. The weather over the past 7 days was dreary and uneventful. We missed the excitement that last year brought with the snow, the wind, and the challenges that it gave.

We our on our way to celebrate  our merry little Christmas at Lakeside.

We reminisce about our wonderful Stachnismus.  Later our conversations turns to our return drive last year, when oftenphoto-2-4 we were unable to distinguish the roads from the fields.

This year proved to be so different; in more ways than just no snow…img_1615
